Dynasty Mod

Recommended Posts

Before I start on this Mod i need to ask a few questions from experienced modders, I think that AoC2 has a lot of potential, do any of you forsee whether any of the following problems will be unworkable in the game?

I was always a big fan of a few board games that are crying out to be resurrected on the PC, these being Kingmaker, Empires of the Middle Ages and Blood Royale.

So here is the outline....

1 - Instead of Immortal rulers (which seems to be the case in the game) why not just use the ruling families name instead in other words Wittelsbach instead of Maximillian II etc... no more immortal leader, merely a continuation of the ruling house?

2 - The colouring of regions, instead of the generic racial definitions why not mark areas that 'could' be united and players could dominate them (by achieving superiority in those regions) to form real countries (for example by owning all of the key areas in Britain you 'could' create the Kingdoms of England (or Scotland in the north / wales in the west etc) or even 'ahistorical potential kingdoms (like making a Burgundian kingdom with elements of France, Germany and the low countries).

3 - Taking into account points 1 & 2 the player states could be named after the ruling family or indeed the local areas they hold... so in effect England, at game start could be called (possibly bad examples) Northumbria under the Percy House, Lancaster (Plantagenets), York (also the Plantagenets, albeit a rival branch of the family) etc etc...

4 - Events - Dynastic unions, Leader dies heirless, famines, revolts, civil wars, etc etc

5 - Key areas could be placed that, upon capture grant new titles to the owner (all players could start as Counts, having taken say 3 or so areas become Dukes, and all of the key areas in a region King etc). So no more Monarchies, rather something else which it based n a real feudal pyramid of power.... Count, Duke, King, Emperor etc etc.

4 - For non christian (or competing types of christians, orthodox etc etc)areas the same could be applied using appropriate titles specific to those areas.

Of course in history many families owned lands in more than one region (kingdom) which would allow them to develop power bases across the globe (well Europe and the Middle east at least)

I'm reasonably certain that  the system will allow this, I just need confirmation.

Related questions

Is there an upper limit to the number of states allowed?

Can the current flags be replaced with a shield icon? (not a deal breaker)

Lastly, can you add any suggestions please?

Also can anyone explain to me how the Holy Roman empire in the 1440 scenario works because I havent figured it out yet lol.

Thanks for reading

The limit of civilisations is determined by the number of provinces the map has. If you are meaning the top limit of creable countroes... well i don't know but if there is one you can do the dinasties the way political forms are made.

I don't know what exactly the holy roman empire does but if you maake a scenario after saving you can define its extension.
