Why all the strategy games will never be realistic

Recommended Posts

In our real world the history is built on one single thing - genetics of the nations, and more preсisely on the phisiological intelligence of the people. The europeans colonised the whole world exactly because of their phisological ability to resolve the complex tasks. How can small Japan or Britain or even Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal colonise much bigger nations? Why do this countries have now the best economic, science, military, etc... So if the game developers will not use this factor (phisiological intelligence of different nations) the strategy-games will always be unrealistic. I'm not talking about adding to the game the intelligent rate like techology or science. I mean that it should be determinated that for example germans will be always more intelligent throuh the game. Constantly.

P.S. We all have different heigth, wheight, color, different voices - why is it wrong to have different brains? By the way, as well as the brain is much more sophisticated and detalised device then the leg-bone, it has the potential to variete not just in 40% but in 4000% between people.

It wasn't their intelligence, because many outside nations had no problem in adapting to western technology.

Also the reasons for Europe rising above the rest of the world are a complex set of factors that cannot be explained with a racist belief, not backed by evidence.  There are two things that made Europe marginally more successful:

  • Sailing skill
  • Capitalism

The first is due to the fact that the rough waters of the North Sea forced Europeans to adapt to better ship building.  Fellow Europeans over in Rome however had worse ships because the Mediterranean has much calmer waters.

The second is a complex set of steps that led Europe to a different path from the rest of the world.  There are two important things to know.  First is the European identity, and second how it affected the development of the continent later on.  The West is identified by three pillars:

  • Latinization
  • Germanization
  • Christianity

Next is the destruction of feudalism, rise of Absolutism, and the struggle between the crown and the Church.  Why?

The Black Death.

Of course, China had a black death as well.  However, they suffered 200 years of Mongol rule, causing a conservative shift in the nation for the next dynasty, closing off from the rest o the world and shunning merchants.

Europe, however, was cleansed from overpopulation experienced during the High Middle Ages allowing for feudalism to get out of fashion.  This made farmers and serfs move into cities, under the direct taxation of the king strengthening the crown in the fight against the Church.  With stronger towns merchants flourished and especially in Italy made so much money that these rulers would fund expensive art projects starting the Renaissance.  The Church did originally fund the sciences, however the Protestants didn't so they "reformed" by suddenly hating science.  This would be just another middle finger to the Church as thanks to the crown science continued, this time with the freedom to not require the Church for scientific inquiry.  The nobility also suffered from the lack of serfs allowing for more serfs to move into the cities in an endless cycle.

With a new love for science and capitalism and extremely effective ships it was a given Europe would go on to conquer the world.

AND BREATHE

    • Campaign: Small Scenarios
In this topic, share your ideas for Campaign scenarios.

These scenarios focus on a small part of the map, with the rest designated as wasteland.

For example, a scenario of the Reconquista in 1054, where gameplay takes place only on the Iberian Peninsula.

What are your ideas for small historical scenarios?

    • Land units - Ideas AoH3
AoH3 will have different types of land units.

In this topic we will write ideas for new land units.

So the AoH 3 will have new battle system.

Representation of the battlefield in the game.

Land units will be grouped into 3 types. Each unit will have a different recruitment cost, attack, defense, movement speed and upkeep.

Groups determine the placement of units on the battlefield.

Each unit can be unlocked by researching technology and then upgraded.

Here is the current list of units with upgrades:

      First line:

Warrior -> Light Footmen -> Heavy Infantry -> Infantry -> Line Infantry -> Modern Infantry

Hoplites -> Spearmen -> Pikeman -> Elite Pikeman -> Musketeer -> Riflemen -> Mechanized Infantry -> Modern Mechanized Infantry

      First line side:

Horseman -> Elite Horseman -> Cavalry -> Tank -> Modern Tank

      Second line:

Archer -> Bowmen -> Crossbowman -> Elite Crossbowman

Canon -> Field Cannon -> Artillery -> Modern Artillery

Early Airplane -> Airplane -> Modern Airplane

This is a very early version, so maybe something should be changed?

Or maybe an idea for a new type of unit with upgrades? I'm waiting for your suggestions.
