Can we change flags of custom civilizations depending of their ideology? (PC)

Question

Hello, I created 8 civilizations and replaced their flag by custom images and it works perfectly, but now I'm wondering if I can make their flag change depending of the government type? (I tried to add c for communism before and after "FL" and "FLH" but this doesn't work)

Thank you in advance for your help ^^

FLH is the ID (For original civs FLH is not present because they have a separate folder)

Is there a way to convert them into in game civilization (like creating every file needed)?

Have you created your civilization through the "Create a Civilization" button, located after at the menu after clicking at "Editor"? If so, I do not know how you can turn them like in-game civilizations. However, you can do something else instead.

You can go to "Editor", "Game Editor" and then "Game Civilizations". There, you click at "Add Civilization". You'll be able to make the tag of the civilization (make sure the tag isn't already in use), change the color and ribbon. Though you won't be able to the flags through that menu, if you copy and paste the images you have to the "flags" folder and rename them to your civilization's tag and their ideology ("test_c" for example), it will work.

Then, all you have to do is go to the "languages" folder, then "civilizations", select the "Bundle.[language].properties" (with the language being the one you're using), scroll all the way to the bottom and add a new line. There, just follow the same pattern as the other lines. Basically, "test" = Test Name, "test_c" = Communist Test Name.

I'm gonna test that right away, thank you 🙂

Hello,,

Changing flags according to one's beliefs is usually a feature that modders or game developers may add to most strategy games featuring unique civilizations. The visual representation of the civilization's political decisions and changes provided by this option can enhance the gameplay's depth and immersion.
