Land units - Ideas AoH3

Recommended Posts

I for one, really like this system, it's not simple, but it is not complex and I really like the sort of feel of "customization" you get by having the three categories have different battelfield placement. I'm not sure if the game is going for the same "easy to learn, hard to master" kind of goal, but I am certainly a advocate for customizability wherever it can be.

It is HUGE and GREAT. But I have doubts if this system makes sense in modern (after 1815) times

I think it should be fine for modern times too, militaries nowdays are usually more structured than ever, and the system looks pretty "era neutral" with a very basic "division" of just those three (first line, first line side (perhaps could be renamed to support), and second line)

BÜYÜK ve HARİKAdır. Ancak bu sistemin modern (1815'ten sonra) zamanlarda anlamlı olup olmadığı konusunda şüphelerim var

And YES, this becomes even more invalid after the 1900s.
 The air force feels inevitable.

Maybe you could add different types of weapons like muskets, swords to the game where you would choose the weapon that the type of unit would be using, however they would have to be in different groups of weapons because a archer cannot use a sword. For example:

We could have ranged weapons and melee weapons (possibly more)

Ranged weapons would be used by archers infantry, etc.

While melee weapons would be used by knights, cavalry, etc.

And you could upgrade/unlock weapons using unlocked technologies with an "Weapon Panel".

And then to make your troops use the weapon on the battle there could be a small green button that would assign a line with an weapon that you chose via a small panel, depending on the weapon you chose the units would suffer different boosts of attack and speed, with some weapons having better stats than others.

Well i think that's it, but maybe there could also be that you could add an weapon and units (like the "Add civilization" in aoh2) mainly for mods tho.

Sorry for bad writing and broken english on some parts

i dont like the idea of a plane being in a division as it is a plane  its not staying in one spot in the air and waits, it lands or flies in battlefield, it should not be in a division type thing in my opinion  in mountains will it land on the tip or fly back and forth infinitly? the rest is wonderful and i wasnt even expecting it to be so cool, just the plane is my pain but the whole idea and stuff is just great, hope there is no time limit for plsyers to unlock technology, or a command that allows us to skip time issue, i want to see cavemans fight a tank division lol

also there is no logic for planes to be in division, not everywhere is a place to land etc, it should be a different type of thing, not in a division, something more like hoi4 stuff, even tho im not fan of hoi4, this is a solution that would be better

In this topic we will write ideas for new land units.

AoH3 will have different types of land units.

First of all, the AoH 3 will have new battle system:

The battlefield

Land units will be grouped into 3 types.

Groups determine the placement of units on the battlefield.

Each unit can be unlocked by researching technology and then upgraded.

Units will have a different recruitment cost, attack, defense, movement speed and upkeep.

Here is the current list of units with upgrades:

First line:

Warrior -> Light Footmen -> Heavy Infantry -> Infantry -> Line Infantry -> Modern Infantry

Hoplites -> Spearmen -> Pikeman -> Elite Pikeman -> Musketeer -> Riflemen -> Mechanized Infantry -> Modern Mechanized Infantry

First line side:

Horseman -> Elite Horseman -> Cavalry -> Tank -> Modern Tank

Second line:

Archer -> Bowmen -> Crossbowman -> Elite Crossbowman

Canon -> Field Cannon -> Artillery -> Modern Artillery

Early Airplane -> Airplane -> Modern Airplane

This is a very early version, so maybe something should be changed?

Or maybe an idea for a new type of unit with upgrades? I'm waiting for your suggestions.

Are the images for the units AI generated? Just curious.

I think a separate branch can be created after field artillery, or even two can be created, one for anti-tank and one for air defense. Another can be split in the air, one can evolve into a strategic bomber that destroys provincial morale and buildings, the other can evolve into an attack bomber that destroys military units. sample game call of war

tanks and artillery should definitely be separated gunner; when leaving like anti-tank air defense Tanks should be divided into armored vehicles, light tanks, medium tanks and heavy tanks. All of them should have different purposes, bonuses and features suitable for different geography and climate.
