Alternate map

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hello Lukasz and the community, happy new year.

While watching alternate maps and videos, I though about alternate maps. This idea is to create some alternate territories such as project Atlantropa in the Mediterranean sea, Zealandia, and a flooded world.

For the map of the project Atlantropa , Aryan already did this, but I don't think it was as accurate as the map below. For the ethnic map, he land discovered is in the same ethnic group than the country who conquered the first. It can be an Easter egg if the countries who built these dams, one in Gibraltar, one between Tunisia and Sardinia, and the last in the Dardanelles in Turkey.

EDIT : some of the new land could be held by bordering provinces or some new provinces could be created.

Malta could have a extra province around Valletta. Same with Venise.

For the map of Zealandia, I found some maps of this in Reddit about the population, the language, the states is about some subdivisions (you can create some too), the landscapes (biomes) and most importantly, the cities.

Where Zealandia is located.

For the flooded map, this could be a event around 2080 in the future. There can have a setting to enable it in the modern world scenario. Basically it just the same map with less border because of the flood. To do this, you could trace this with the actual current world map.

I know that modders could do this but for IOS users who don't want to jailbreak or couldn't , It can be useful for scenario. If you can't or you don't have so much time to do these, a modder could do it and send the file to you so you can upload on the AOH3 app, in scenario editor.

Plus, for the map of Atlantropa and the flooded map, they could appear with an event and the map change. The concerned countries could move their coastal cities In two steps : the first is to build a new city, the second is to move the resident. This could drop happiness in the province.

Logically, in the Atlantropa map, the coastal provinces must move to the coast. For the flooded map, the concerned cities (there aren't only coastal cities) must move to the current coast, this must happen before the flood.

For the release of the project, the following countries in the Mediterranean sea, could have a congress for allow the project, then they vote. But if there is only one country in the Mediterranean sea, like the Roman empire, It could build the dam without congress.

(These border in blue are just for the example)

EDIT In blue, there are the unified provinces with the new discovered land, and in red the newly formed provinces.

If some coastal provinces were now landlocked, the port is destroyed, but if it's just a connection, then the port is just moved.
