Elections in Democracy government type

Recommended Posts

An idea i've made in a older topic:

Laws: Laws define how the government works and its policies, making it more immersive to change regimes, they work in different categories going from sociopolitical issues to government & economic issues, they would be approved if the majority if the parliament approves the law.

Parliament: The Parliament is composed by a certain number of seats, defined by the laws. It would be divided betweent the government and the opposition, if the opposition is very popular and angry it may coup the government and impose the laws they support, forcing the government to collaborate with the opposition.

Parties: Each party defends an ideology, endorsing some laws and condemning others. Each party have a pressure ( percentage of seats in the Parliament ) and can propose laws according to the ideology that they defend. The parties can make coalition with others that have a similar ideology to get majorty in the Parliament.

Ideology: They define what each party supports, with minor variations. Some of them focus at reforming political liberty and guaranteeing social rights, while others focus at revoking these rights.

Some ideologies ideas list:

  • Liberal
  • Conservative
  • Social-democratic
  • Communist
  • Fascist
  • Authoritarian
  • Anarchist

And maybe also separatist ? They make referendums for independence.

I think when elections happen, they could be in a form of events, with 2 events for each election happening:

Event 1: 2 weeks left until election!

Outcome effect: Election event starts, opposition parties are being very active to gain popularity (support) in the civilization.

Event 2: (Civilization)Elections result/ (insert leader/party name here) wins the elections in (Civilization)

Outcome name should depend on if your government won or lost the elections, for a party/leader to win elections, they need to gain the majority of ideology popularity/support in the civilization

Outcome effect: winners party come in power, leader changes and government changes if not democratic subideology/party (example: if conservatives or social democrats win, country stays a democracy or constitutional monarchy, if communists or fascists win, new government system is established)

Extra idea: in ideology text file there should be a way to make a government democratic (with elections) or not, like how you can make a government revolutionary in aoh2, and also a way to add parties/ subideologies like conservatives, social democrats, liberals etc...

There is my idea on how events could work. Hope you liked it, if I should add something, reply to me about it

Question for Łukazs: Do you have any confirmed plans to add elections to Aoh3 ?

Algeria did not exist in 444, but rather the Kingdom of Tlemcen or (Zayyanid dynasty) existed.

Game it's just in alpha, civilization for 1440 is Don't exist yet

The button ''change of government '' would take more sense if when you click on monarchy, you make it gain more popularity until the next election. If the monarchy won, the government would crown a king.

And possibly make the same thing to others countries for influence, and coup is more radical.

Party popularity could be boosted by selecting a specific one and then boosted by tools like propaganda. The propaganda becomes more effective if there are certain technologies like radio, TV, Internet, etc...

+ if your ruling government does bad (example stability is low, bad economy management, loses wars) then he loses party popularity and the opposing parties popularity grows, and if it does well then its party popularity grows. The effect should be greater on how bad/ good your ruling government does.

+ to make it challenging to stay at power, the opposing parties will be active at spreading propaganda, but they cannot when certain laws like freedom of press are restricted, or if some parties are banned (banning parties lowers stability instantly, but increases it overtime

As a new mechanic you could finance parties of your ideology, obviously the country could discover it and lower your prestige if you are not a superpower

I think it is unwise to name every party in every democratic country. It is a lot of unnecessary work because some parties disappear, others appear and others change their views.

I would create 9 parties in every democratic country:

In countries with a 2-party system (like the United States), there should also be 9 parties (because even their 2 parties change throughout history, wandering around the entire political compass), but only the 2 parties with the greatest support would get into parliament.

I also believe that only one chamber of parliament is enough. Why make it more difficult by adding another one.

Democracy should not be able to be changed to another system unless the party wins:

  • authoritarian-leftist - the possibility of changing the political system to communism
  • authoritarian-centrist - the possibility of changing the system to fascism/nazism
  • authoritarian-right - the possibility of changing the system to a monarchy

Everything is fine, but it is worth noting that the electoral system exists not only in bourgeois parliamentary and presidential republics/constitutional monarchies. This aspect of politics also exists under socialist/communist regimes.

It is worth making the option of the presence or absence of parliament separate from the ideolony mechanics. Let this become a special opportunity in states with parliament to more accurately determine the essence of their regime by choosing a “faction”.

Example: The ideology of the state is communism, and the strongest faction in parliament is syndicalist. Or the ideology is fascism, and the faction is the Nazis. Or the “ideology” is a constitutional monarchy, and the faction is the Agrarian Party

Has this Idea been abandoned? Or moved towards some potential DLC in the future?
NGL this would one of the best mechanics for this game.

I think we all forgot about it, it could have potential but the problem is: how to implement it

(I could send my proposal again, but maybe it would be too much to constantly advertise my own ideas)

Returning to this topic, I think the aspect of at least elections in the game is necessary, at a minimum, it will diversify the gameplay in modern times, at most, it is an excellent canvas for various new mechanics and gameplay

I hope that the national electoral system has not been abandoned. At present, it seems that the leaders of monarchy countries will die and be replaced when they reach a certain age (after all, the current game videos show that only monarchy countries will replace their leaders). If democratic parliamentary systems and presidential republics It’s also strange that the leader is not replaced until he dies due to age.

    • Campaign: Small Scenarios
In this topic, share your ideas for Campaign scenarios.

These scenarios focus on a small part of the map, with the rest designated as wasteland.

For example, a scenario of the Reconquista in 1054, where gameplay takes place only on the Iberian Peninsula.

What are your ideas for small historical scenarios?

    • Events - Common events for every civilization in the game
      Hi,
in this topic, I am interested in your ideas for events that can happen for every Civilization in the game.
I'm also interested in Missions for every Civilization.

Here is some example, have more than 10k army, have more than 5000 gold, build 10 buildings, recruit an Advisor, increase tax efficiency 20 times, be largest  producer of some resource in the world, unlock 5 Civilization legacies etc.

    • Land units - Ideas AoH3
AoH3 will have different types of land units.

In this topic we will write ideas for new land units.

So the AoH 3 will have new battle system.

Representation of the battlefield in the game.

Land units will be grouped into 3 types. Each unit will have a different recruitment cost, attack, defense, movement speed and upkeep.

Groups determine the placement of units on the battlefield.

Each unit can be unlocked by researching technology and then upgraded.

Here is the current list of units with upgrades:

      First line:

Warrior -> Light Footmen -> Heavy Infantry -> Infantry -> Line Infantry -> Modern Infantry

Hoplites -> Spearmen -> Pikeman -> Elite Pikeman -> Musketeer -> Riflemen -> Mechanized Infantry -> Modern Mechanized Infantry

      First line side:

Horseman -> Elite Horseman -> Cavalry -> Tank -> Modern Tank

      Second line:

Archer -> Bowmen -> Crossbowman -> Elite Crossbowman

Canon -> Field Cannon -> Artillery -> Modern Artillery

Early Airplane -> Airplane -> Modern Airplane

This is a very early version, so maybe something should be changed?

Or maybe an idea for a new type of unit with upgrades? I'm waiting for your suggestions.
