"Culture/Ethnic Map" mode

Recommended Posts

Hey hey

I just thought it would be nice to have a toggleable map mode, similiar to how we have the "diplomacy" or "alliances" map modes in AoH2, for cultures/ethnicities. Basically, the way this could work would be through the populations of certain provinces. By toggling the culture mode, the player would be able to see what cultures/cores hold a majority in each province. For example, imagining we have the Austrian Empire in a scenario, and make all Hungarian provinces to have 80% Hungarian population. When toggling the culture map on, we would see Hungary's color in the provinces rather than Austria's. Imagining we had a more equal difference, like 55% or so, we could have the provinces stripped with Austria's and Hungary's colors to show they are cored by both. Also, I think the alliance map should have the alliance's name rather than the countries', kinda like in HoI4, but that's beside the point. Either way, none of this is crucial, I just thought it'd be fun!

Here is a visual representation of what I tried to explain (Images do NOT belong to me)

I think that it can work exactly the same like religion. If Mr. Łukasz was able to introduce religion into the game, so I think that ethnicity can be done in the same way as religion without any major problems. But I don't know, I'm not expert. Maybe its problematic to itroduce ethnicity to the game

The primary nationality of a country would be the predominant nationality and if someone wanted to change the ethnic group of the inhabitants in his country, he could only change it into the group that is dominant one. The dominant nationality should not change during the game, even if we conquer a lot of areas with foreign nationalities

The possibility of extermination would work to, but it is a more radical way to change the ethnic group.

Also add the total population of a ethnic group with it !

And rebellions should be nationalities, not countries

For exmaple rebelion breaks out in Italty and rebels are Italians and every nationality has countries assigned to it.

Italians -> Kingdom of Two Sicilies, Kingdom of Naples, Papal State, , Repulblic of Pisa etc.

In AoH2 if Spain conquered Italy and a few years later, Spain collapsed on its own, it will possible to have spanish rebels in Italy and I do not think that is good (or french rebels in Madagascar 😕 ). In my opinion rebellions should depend on the nationalities that live in the area, not on the countries that owned that area

    • Campaign: Small Scenarios
In this topic, share your ideas for Campaign scenarios.

These scenarios focus on a small part of the map, with the rest designated as wasteland.

For example, a scenario of the Reconquista in 1054, where gameplay takes place only on the Iberian Peninsula.

What are your ideas for small historical scenarios?

    • Events - Common events for every civilization in the game
      Hi,
in this topic, I am interested in your ideas for events that can happen for every Civilization in the game.
I'm also interested in Missions for every Civilization.

Here is some example, have more than 10k army, have more than 5000 gold, build 10 buildings, recruit an Advisor, increase tax efficiency 20 times, be largest  producer of some resource in the world, unlock 5 Civilization legacies etc.

    • Land units - Ideas AoH3
AoH3 will have different types of land units.

In this topic we will write ideas for new land units.

So the AoH 3 will have new battle system.

Representation of the battlefield in the game.

Land units will be grouped into 3 types. Each unit will have a different recruitment cost, attack, defense, movement speed and upkeep.

Groups determine the placement of units on the battlefield.

Each unit can be unlocked by researching technology and then upgraded.

Here is the current list of units with upgrades:

      First line:

Warrior -> Light Footmen -> Heavy Infantry -> Infantry -> Line Infantry -> Modern Infantry

Hoplites -> Spearmen -> Pikeman -> Elite Pikeman -> Musketeer -> Riflemen -> Mechanized Infantry -> Modern Mechanized Infantry

      First line side:

Horseman -> Elite Horseman -> Cavalry -> Tank -> Modern Tank

      Second line:

Archer -> Bowmen -> Crossbowman -> Elite Crossbowman

Canon -> Field Cannon -> Artillery -> Modern Artillery

Early Airplane -> Airplane -> Modern Airplane

This is a very early version, so maybe something should be changed?

Or maybe an idea for a new type of unit with upgrades? I'm waiting for your suggestions.
