Ship (simple)

Easy ways to add ships

Hello,

In the last video about graphics, Lukasz had made a first look about land units in the sea. We understand that there will not be a navy, instead, I was thinking about an alternative (different that anyone proposes).

We know that not very large countries like Britain, Portugal and Japan had a great past with navy, so if there wouldn’t have sea buffs for these countries, the power would be unfair.

These land units need ships. To make it simple, there could be a ship factory to build ships to transport land units. There could be 6 levels of ships.

Level 1 : early ship factory ; 1 for 500 units ; up to 3 ships at once ; cost of 1: 100 golds : since 5000 B.C

Level 2 : Mid age ship factory ; 1 for 1000 units ; up to 5 ships at once ; cost of 1: 250 golds : since 1000

Level 3 : 1500’s ship factory ; 1 for 2000 units ; up to 10 ships at once ; cost of 1: 1000 golds : since 1450

Level 4 : 1600’s ship factory ; 1 for 5000 units ; up to 20 ships at once ; cost of 1: 1500 golds : since 1600

Level 5 : 1800’s ship factory ; 1 for 10 000 units ; up to 30 ships at once ; cost of 1: 1500 golds : since 1850

Level 6 : Modern ship factory ;1 for 10 000 units ;up to 50 ships at once ; cost of 1 : 2000 golds : since 1930

We must build ships ONLY in coastal provinces, or it will be too hard to implement.

The levels of these buildings would be separate in technology trees. There would be zones, like the ocean couldn’t be crossed by early ships.

There could be civilization advantages for ships in attack, in defense, number of ships built, and in cost.

Attack : +10%  Defense : +10%  Speed : +10%  Construction speed: +10%  Cost : -10%

This is the bonus for 1 ship of each level.

Level 1 : attack +0% ; defense +0% ; speed +0% ;                         Access to : sea, lakes

Level 2 : attack +5% ; defense +5% ; speed +5% ;                         Access to : sea, lakes

Level 3 : attack +10% ; defense +7% ; speed +10% ;                     Access to : sea, ocean routes

Level 4 : attack +12% ; defense +10% ; speed +15% ;                   Access to : sea, ocean routes

Level 5 : attack +15% ; defense +12% ; speed +30% ;                   Access to : sea, ocean, canals (if it is possible)

Level 6 : attack +20% ; defense +15% ; speed +50% ;                   Access to : sea, ocean, canals (if it is possible)

When we attack or colonize land from the sea, ships stay in coastal provinces, so we don’t have to use ships on land.

For colonization, we just have to recruit settlers and build ships for them.

Ocean routes : in the early colonial era, there were routes across the Atlantic ocean. It would make it more realistic if there are ocean routes. Logically, it must be very frequent, aside from strait, and there is a risk of accident or conflict.

side from strait, and there is a risk of accident or conflict.
