How to add settlers to aoh3 without breaking the game

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

@Łukasz Jakowski u said u wont add it because its too broken so here are suggestions on how to balance it, the idea is this: there is only one type of cores that move around and migrate, nomadic cores, the idea is that only certain civilization cores/peoples will be called nomadic and only for a short period of time with a limit and certain conditions, firstly they cannot migrate once but migrate in waves, very slowly but steadily increasing via birthrates and migration, as a ruler you will get an event at the start of each migration wave where you can either accept them or deny them which may cause a hefty relation decrease, nomadic migration has its pros and cons, its pros is that it adds ALOT of manpower and they can even become good advisor options and be very useful as mercenaries, but its cons is that if managed poorly they can really harm your stability and even drag you into wars or demand independence if they stay in the council for too long they will demand independence, after they form a civilization or declare independence they cannot migrate anymore and can only expand by normal core construction, an example would be: ottoman empire, the turks can migrate into anatolia but after they form ottomans they no longer can as they become a stable institution, instead assimilating greeks

this works perfectly for hungary as well where after forming hungary or converting to christianity they can no longer migrate and are confined to the historical hungarian ethnic region in europe (hungary north serbia and parts of Transylvania), migration could also happen through two other ways after which are actually connected: 1- sending settlers to settle low population towns or areas (like the ottomans did in the balkans) this feature is only confided to very low population cities, you can try to settle larger cities with your people but that will just cause an uprising, which connects us to the second way: population exchange, the way it would work is that if your conquered civilization wins the uprising, all the settlers will be sent back to your core provinces, giving you a population bonus but -12% stability for half a year or a year depending on the amount of refugees (also like the turks in the balkans post balkan wars)

there is one (possibly suggested) thing where in modern periods war refugees will flow in and mess up your population graph, which makes assimilation necessary in the modern periods, this gives you pretty big 20% population increase, 30% economy bonus but can have terrible effects on the overall stability for the long term

(I DO NOT EXPECT THIS ON FIRST RELEASE, NOT EVEN BETA RELEASE, THIS IS A SUGGESTED FEATURE TO ADD WHEN THE GAME IS READY FOR IT)

There already are settlers, unless you mean migration?

Quote

what i specifically mean is being able to move those settlers to settle already existing provinces for hordes etc or utilizing them to increase your core and assimilate quicker

There must be migration and it is absolutely mandatory. Because if not, then the province is being ruined and nothing else grows on it and does not bring income, because such states are engaged only in animal husbandry and agriculture.

in addition, you need to try to move from an ordinary native tribe to a settled tribe

agreed, conflicts like the reconquista just simply dont make sense without migration or mass deportation

    • Campaign: Small Scenarios
In this topic, share your ideas for Campaign scenarios.

These scenarios focus on a small part of the map, with the rest designated as wasteland.

For example, a scenario of the Reconquista in 1054, where gameplay takes place only on the Iberian Peninsula.

What are your ideas for small historical scenarios?

    • Events - Common events for every civilization in the game
      Hi,
in this topic, I am interested in your ideas for events that can happen for every Civilization in the game.
I'm also interested in Missions for every Civilization.

Here is some example, have more than 10k army, have more than 5000 gold, build 10 buildings, recruit an Advisor, increase tax efficiency 20 times, be largest  producer of some resource in the world, unlock 5 Civilization legacies etc.

    • Land units - Ideas AoH3
AoH3 will have different types of land units.

In this topic we will write ideas for new land units.

So the AoH 3 will have new battle system.

Representation of the battlefield in the game.

Land units will be grouped into 3 types. Each unit will have a different recruitment cost, attack, defense, movement speed and upkeep.

Groups determine the placement of units on the battlefield.

Each unit can be unlocked by researching technology and then upgraded.

Here is the current list of units with upgrades:

      First line:

Warrior -> Light Footmen -> Heavy Infantry -> Infantry -> Line Infantry -> Modern Infantry

Hoplites -> Spearmen -> Pikeman -> Elite Pikeman -> Musketeer -> Riflemen -> Mechanized Infantry -> Modern Mechanized Infantry

      First line side:

Horseman -> Elite Horseman -> Cavalry -> Tank -> Modern Tank

      Second line:

Archer -> Bowmen -> Crossbowman -> Elite Crossbowman

Canon -> Field Cannon -> Artillery -> Modern Artillery

Early Airplane -> Airplane -> Modern Airplane

This is a very early version, so maybe something should be changed?

Or maybe an idea for a new type of unit with upgrades? I'm waiting for your suggestions.
