Holy Provinces and Religious Titles

Recommended Posts

Holy Provinces

There should be holy provinces for every religion, owning it will give you population growth bonus and income production (since people of that religion would make pilgrimage). It would also increase relations with other countries with that religion.

The same province can be holy for multiple religions. If you own a holy province, other countries with different religions that also consider the province holy can declare a Holy War. More on that later

Here is a list of Holy Provinces:

  • Christianity: Jerusalem, Damascus, Tyre, Antioch, Constantinople (Orthodox), Rome (Catholic)
  • Islam: Mecca, Medina, Jerusalem, Damascus, Karbalah (Shia)
  • Judaism: Jerusalem, Mount Sinai (El Tor)
  • I don't know much about Hindu/Buddhist etc. people can suggest in the comments.

Religious Titles

However, not all holy cities are the same. Owning a certain holy province or vassalizing a country that owns it allows you to claim a title.

Some examples: For Catholic, owning Rome gives your leader the title Pope. For Islam, owning both Mecca and Medina gives you the title Caliph. Having the title allows you to declare a Holy War, which can be used against countries of different religions that control a Holy Province of your religion. A holy war will get your troops higher morale as well as more manpower, since people of other countries might volunteer to join the holy army.

I think the likelihood of them joining the holy war should be based off of how much strength your nation has and there relations with you or if you pay them gold to join.

Hinduism: Himalayan Chota Char Dham - Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Haridwar, Dwarka, Rameswaram

Shintoism: Ise Grand Shrine, Izumo Taisha, Sengen Shrines, Haiden, Meji Jingu, Itsukushima Jinja, Nikkō Tōshogū

Zoroastrism: Aradakan, Aghdâ, Mehriz, Yazd

Egyptian Mythology: Luxor/Thebes, Karnak Temple, Aswan, Philae, Memphis, Naqa, Meroe Pyramids, Gebel Barkal

    • Campaign: Small Scenarios
In this topic, share your ideas for Campaign scenarios.

These scenarios focus on a small part of the map, with the rest designated as wasteland.

For example, a scenario of the Reconquista in 1054, where gameplay takes place only on the Iberian Peninsula.

What are your ideas for small historical scenarios?

    • Land units - Ideas AoH3
AoH3 will have different types of land units.

In this topic we will write ideas for new land units.

So the AoH 3 will have new battle system.

Representation of the battlefield in the game.

Land units will be grouped into 3 types. Each unit will have a different recruitment cost, attack, defense, movement speed and upkeep.

Groups determine the placement of units on the battlefield.

Each unit can be unlocked by researching technology and then upgraded.

Here is the current list of units with upgrades:

      First line:

Warrior -> Light Footmen -> Heavy Infantry -> Infantry -> Line Infantry -> Modern Infantry

Hoplites -> Spearmen -> Pikeman -> Elite Pikeman -> Musketeer -> Riflemen -> Mechanized Infantry -> Modern Mechanized Infantry

      First line side:

Horseman -> Elite Horseman -> Cavalry -> Tank -> Modern Tank

      Second line:

Archer -> Bowmen -> Crossbowman -> Elite Crossbowman

Canon -> Field Cannon -> Artillery -> Modern Artillery

Early Airplane -> Airplane -> Modern Airplane

This is a very early version, so maybe something should be changed?

Or maybe an idea for a new type of unit with upgrades? I'm waiting for your suggestions.
