Age of History 3 - Publisher?

Recommended Posts

I don't think it's a good idea. AoC thrives from being a small indie title, thus all of the interactions with the community. Going mainstream would take away so much of the charm, not even considering what draconian dlc policies they might try to enforce

Look at their email address bruh, there's literally proof this is a game scout from paradox themselves

Incorrect. Paradox employees use @paradoxplaza, not @paradoxinteractive.

Looking at this objectively. Maybe yes BUT this seems more weirdly a scam.

Pro is that you get money and stuff that you usually don't have access to. And not like they can force you to make DLCs since mobile and why? HOI4 already makes 10 morbillion from their DLCs aswell as other IPs under their belt. This seems more like a way to extend their influence on the historical tactical strategic RTS genre or something (I do not know what specific genre HOI4 or Victoria 2 are.) Than anything making more money. They'll make more but not their main players. Other than that, you may lose autonomy on your own project so it's best if you ask if you if your development on the project will be intervened on or not.

But this email is just, odd. It gives off a really fishy vibe. So do what you need to do first on checking if this is more of a hook scam.

-Like check the email and if this is the original business email used by Paradox themselves.

-Converse more to see if this person is an actual employee of Paradox interactive. Even look him up and see if he is actually working for Paradox

-Read between the lines for any errors or slip-ups the writer had made.

-And check for any more drills use for scam emails.

Most importantly is be ready if this man is here only to leak the game, reuse the game for his own motives, or something else. Also don't forget that he could give you a trojan in a blink of an eye like a RAT (Remote Access Trojan) or something else worst. Always prepare for the worst. Of course I'm just a kid on your forum but being paranoid is better than being oblivious.

@Łukasz Jakowski, sorry for the ping. Just concerned.

Paradox Interactive is generally not forced to make DLCs for games that are developed by 3rd-party developers. Darkest Hour, Arsenal of Democracy, March of the Eagles, unreleased East vs. West - DLC is missing from the distribution models of these grand strategies (published but not developed by Paradox), although they were released/developed after EU3 (when Paradox first introduced the modern distribution model with a lot of DLCs). Paradox uses this model only for internal studios' projects (Paradox Game Studios, Tinto, etc.)

It really looks like this. Just a lie to take the pre-release game build

In addition, a junior employee of one of the Paradox's studios (i.e. responsible specifically for their own games' development), as indicated by the title of the position which he introduced himself as, does't have the authority to make such proposals on behalf of the company (this is done by the publishing department, that is, Paradox Interactive itself)

but AoH3 is not with c++?

But fr tho, the game is indie, and would lose it's charm if it was published by Paradox. Plus, we don't really need DLC for this game. (Plus, it's probably a fake email if it wasn't from a paradox executive or something)

Sure, it's java-based (and new moddable files are JS-based)

Even if they didnt use this paradox still owns the domain paradoxinteractive.com so it would be hard for someone to take it and use it (btw they use this one for press assets too pr@paradoxinteractive.com so it might be them) however the wording of the email is very weird

Maybe someone who works and paradox is using it (without permision of the higher ups) with the Intend to leak it for some reason?

Maybe? I'm actually not really sure...

It could be both good (the game will be more famous) and bad for the game (the game will probably cost more money than what you initially wanted it to cost, and there will be many overpriced DLC's).

You know, I saw you post this question also on your YouTube Community page, and people there are really supportive of Paradox being the publisher of your game, while people here mostly disagree with Paradox being the publisher of the game.

But at the end, you are the one deciding.

Well, it would be nice if you could keep the franchise as you want, without changing the essence of the game. Age of History would certainly gain more popularity since Paradox is the most well-known publisher of gsg games and has the most played games in the genre today. The terms agreed upon between you and Paradox are the determining factor.
You are the one who knows best what decision to make since it's your business. Do what you think is best for you and your game franchise

First, obviously, read what they offer and you decide if it's a good option.

But I don't know what to say, on the one hand it's the biggest company that has been playing this type of games for years, but then there's the dlc's that literally a crusial update becomes a very expensive dlc for something useless

I wouldn’t want you to work with Paradox Interactive, yes they have their pros and cons, they are monopolists in the field of the launch strategy genre, maybe the game will come out before working with this company and there will be more content, but I wouldn’t want to see that Paradox Interactive published Age of History 3

Salvete amicis, I think you don't need a game publisher because it will ruin your independence and your creativity.

I know paradox is a big company who made a lot of games but this is your Idea and this should be respected, because your community doesn't need paradox we are your followers because what you made by your own and we like your developing skills and what you made since now also giving a chance to paradox games enterprise will be the worst case also I have to say that i'm respecting your decisions about whatever you gonna do. But remeber we like this franchise because what you have been done.

    • Campaign: Small Scenarios
In this topic, share your ideas for Campaign scenarios.

These scenarios focus on a small part of the map, with the rest designated as wasteland.

For example, a scenario of the Reconquista in 1054, where gameplay takes place only on the Iberian Peninsula.

What are your ideas for small historical scenarios?

    • Events - Common events for every civilization in the game
      Hi,
in this topic, I am interested in your ideas for events that can happen for every Civilization in the game.
I'm also interested in Missions for every Civilization.

Here is some example, have more than 10k army, have more than 5000 gold, build 10 buildings, recruit an Advisor, increase tax efficiency 20 times, be largest  producer of some resource in the world, unlock 5 Civilization legacies etc.

    • Land units - Ideas AoH3
AoH3 will have different types of land units.

In this topic we will write ideas for new land units.

So the AoH 3 will have new battle system.

Representation of the battlefield in the game.

Land units will be grouped into 3 types. Each unit will have a different recruitment cost, attack, defense, movement speed and upkeep.

Groups determine the placement of units on the battlefield.

Each unit can be unlocked by researching technology and then upgraded.

Here is the current list of units with upgrades:

      First line:

Warrior -> Light Footmen -> Heavy Infantry -> Infantry -> Line Infantry -> Modern Infantry

Hoplites -> Spearmen -> Pikeman -> Elite Pikeman -> Musketeer -> Riflemen -> Mechanized Infantry -> Modern Mechanized Infantry

      First line side:

Horseman -> Elite Horseman -> Cavalry -> Tank -> Modern Tank

      Second line:

Archer -> Bowmen -> Crossbowman -> Elite Crossbowman

Canon -> Field Cannon -> Artillery -> Modern Artillery

Early Airplane -> Airplane -> Modern Airplane

This is a very early version, so maybe something should be changed?

Or maybe an idea for a new type of unit with upgrades? I'm waiting for your suggestions.
