Civilization name changes as tech progress

Recommended Posts

Hi saw this comment on yt & thought it was intresting:

Peace treaties have very harsh conditions. It is not realistic for the Ottomans and Mamluks to be destroyed in a single war, and we see that states that should have been destroyed by the 1 6th century are still in existence in the 21st century. This may be possible, but it would be better to change the name of the country at least after a certain technology. For example, Mamluks = Egypt, Ottoman = Turkey or Timurid = Uzbekistan.

how about this ideas to fix this ? Do you like this?

1. Transformation Trigger

The Ottomans (or other nations like the Mamluks) would transform into their modern-day counterparts (like Turkey or Egypt) when they meet specific criteria. For the Ottomans, it could happen after they lose a series of major battles or after suffering significant territorial losses.

Conditions:

  • Losing a certain number of key battles (e.g., 5 or more major defeats).
  • Occupation of core territories for a certain period.
  • Losing over 50% of their empire to other states or rebels.

Outcome:

  • The state transforms from the Ottoman Empire into Turkey.
  • This includes a change in the flag, national name, and, potentially, some cultural and government reforms.

For other states:

  • Mamluks could transform into Egypt.
  • Timurids could become Uzbekistan or another successor state.

2. Cultural and National Reforms

After transformation, the state would receive cultural reforms that reflect the new national identity.

Example (Ottoman → Turkey):

  • Adoption of the Turkish language and culture as dominant.
  • Shift in governmental focus from an empire to a more centralized nation-state.

Example (Mamluks → Egypt):

  • Shift in administrative structure to focus on a centralized, modern Egypt.
  • Cultural identity change from Mamluk heritage to Egyptian nationalism.

3. Diplomatic Implications

  • Countries that transform would have changes in their diplomatic relationships. For instance, European powers might see the newly formed Turkey differently from the Ottoman Empire.
  • This transition could also reset some diplomatic penalties or rewards, as it marks a new chapter for the nation.

4. Visual and Gameplay Impact

  • The nation’s name, flag, and color would change on the map.
  • Some internal unrest or civil wars could occur during the transformation period to simulate resistance to change.
  • The economy and military strength may temporarily weaken as the state undergoes reformation.

5. Other Nations

  • Similar triggers can be added for other empires and states.
  • E.g., the Holy Roman Empire could transform into smaller German states or even Germany itself if it collapses after major defeats.

This mechanic would add more historical depth and realism to the game by simulating the transformation of old empires into modern nations.

    • Campaign: Small Scenarios
In this topic, share your ideas for Campaign scenarios.

These scenarios focus on a small part of the map, with the rest designated as wasteland.

For example, a scenario of the Reconquista in 1054, where gameplay takes place only on the Iberian Peninsula.

What are your ideas for small historical scenarios?

    • Events - Common events for every civilization in the game
      Hi,
in this topic, I am interested in your ideas for events that can happen for every Civilization in the game.

    • Land units - Ideas AoH3
AoH3 will have different types of land units.

In this topic we will write ideas for new land units.

So the AoH 3 will have new battle system.

Representation of the battlefield in the game.

Land units will be grouped into 3 types. Each unit will have a different recruitment cost, attack, defense, movement speed and upkeep.

Groups determine the placement of units on the battlefield.

Each unit can be unlocked by researching technology and then upgraded.

Here is the current list of units with upgrades:

      First line:

Warrior -> Light Footmen -> Heavy Infantry -> Infantry -> Line Infantry -> Modern Infantry

Hoplites -> Spearmen -> Pikeman -> Elite Pikeman -> Musketeer -> Riflemen -> Mechanized Infantry -> Modern Mechanized Infantry

      First line side:

Horseman -> Elite Horseman -> Cavalry -> Tank -> Modern Tank

      Second line:

Archer -> Bowmen -> Crossbowman -> Elite Crossbowman

Canon -> Field Cannon -> Artillery -> Modern Artillery

Early Airplane -> Airplane -> Modern Airplane

This is a very early version, so maybe something should be changed?

Or maybe an idea for a new type of unit with upgrades? I'm waiting for your suggestions.
