So.. what's happening with the Antifu Map and the 6.3 Mod Update?

Recommended Posts

Felt like doing this as my new second post on this website rather than a update to my main post (which I am gonna archive in favour of doing new posts for each update) since I think that this would be more fitting.

So as most of yous know, I rarely post updates about the Antifu Map future updates outside of my Discord Server (if you already keep up to date on posts there, you don't need to read this post), so considering it will be about like 3 months until the 6.3 Update comes out (March 25th), I decided to do a little/sizable summary post.

How well was the aftermath of 6.2's release?

After the Antifu Map 6.2 Mod Update released (forum post bout that is here), it had quite a phenomenal response in terms of analytics, even with it being on Mediafire, it reached over 2400 downloads (both PC and Android) as of 24/11/24, and in aspects such as soundtrack, stability of the scenario (mostly) as well as the fact it actually managed to release after a year and a half in development (development hell basically), I was really happy to get it done and dusted, but that's not to say that I was happy with the update..

Even with 6.2 generally well received and the fact it's an above average update imo, there wasn't much new stuff in the scenario I could add in time, I announced the release date way too early knowing it was very unlikely I could add the stuff I promised, because surprise, surprise, I had nothing in mind for Europe at the time (6.2 was the Europe update), also, during 6.2's development from the beginning, I had...

  • Lost all progress after my phone broke
  • Spent a good while moving and adapting the mod scenario to a new map
  • Focused much more on my YouTube channel because it was blowing up in popularity at the time (something of which I feel was a good move, I care more about YouTube than modding for a game I don't like)
  • Spent the last 2 months of 2023 instead shifting development back to releasing 6.15 (the third 6.1 sub-update) which flopped hard
  • After 6.15 released, lost almost all momentum in developing 6.2 that I instead tried to make up for it by ensuring the original soundtrack was both complete and as good as it could be
  • Soundtrack development issues which lasted until the undelayable release of the Mixtape on April 24th which resulted in a incomplete mixtape that had to be split in 2 parts (nothing wrong with the soundtrack developers, it was a incredibly squeezy time period)
  • By the release date on June 5th (which happened to be the final release date after so many delays), I had only managed to complete one path for Yugoslavia, there were some incomplete paths (particularly with the Soviets who were actually supposed to be a main focus of the update)

Even with all of those issues, I still think 6.2 releasing is better than nothing, it's just something that tends to stick out at me everytime I think about that update.

Will the Antifu Map potentially be ported to AOH3 or use a different AOH2 engine?

Short answer, hard no, long answer, I have a lot of context I can add to me saying no

Firstly, even when AOH3 was initially announced, even though I was kinda happy it was releasing, I didn't care about it coming out, I already don't usually play even AOH2 and only continued developing the Antifu Map for AOH2 because I knew there was some appeal to it, but also because it would continue to egg at me if I stopped, I did get around to trying AOH3 (on mobile, because my PC wouldn't handle it at all spec-wise) and my initial suspicions from seeing gameplay and everything in particular confirmed my suspicions, it didn't carry over much, if at all, from AOH2's gameplay, whether people will argue if that's a good thing or not, I didn't see it at all as a good thing in terms of a potential Antifu Map port, I would rather wait till 6.5 is released so I can then see about releasing a new revamped Antifu Map version to a much more better game like HOI4 than suddenly ditch all mod development for AOH3

And in terms of using a new AOH2 engine, I have considered (and even have done, like with superevents) adding new features from other engines into a engine more specialised for the Antifu Map, I learnt a few months ago after its final release that BE2 is now a very stable engine to use, but wars in the Antifu Map are very dependent on the combat system from vanilla AOH2 that I feel stuff like a capitulation system wouldn't work in the Antifu Map, especially since I have my own alternative for that which is victory events, Uwut is broken, USGW's engine doesn't work good on mobile, and considering about like 85% of the playerbase is on mobile, that is something I have to consider.

That being said, I do know that it is very likely that the success of the 6.3 Mod Update and updates after that will be hampered by AOH3 being out, but that is not a necessary factor for me to care about, I know that there are other mods that will still stay on/are being newly developed for AOH2, so I don't have a reason to care.

Will the 6.3 Mod Update finally be a good update?

Hopefully not, unlike 6.2, I have a lot more motivation for this mod update to not only be the best mod update for the Antifu Map, but also hopefully the best mod update for a story-focused AOH2 mod yous will see, I mentioned with 6.2 that I had lacked the motivation to focus on mod development, I am still focused on YouTube stuff, but with 6.3, I have been putting a lot more focus on that update even with personal issues affecting me, for one, I have a main thing that happened during 6.2's development that I can base the update's main focus on, that being the vTuber drama I found myself in (really funny ik), I don't have a specific video about that, but in a unrelated drama video I did (Argead Star Investigation video, which was actually about some AOH community drama) I do summarise what happened in that drama in the video, it's on my YT channel that yous can search for, but basically, that is my main inspiration for the 6.3 Mod Update, and for the other nations outside of the mod's internal main focus (Korea for AGES, Australia for BC, both different names because 6.3 has two different versions for Android and PC respectively) I still have a lot of ideas for those nations, and maybe once Asia is mostly done, I can focus on Europe a bit before getting it ready for release, mod soundtrack is going along swimmingly too, it's a separate soundtrack from 6.2's soundtrack but even with that, it is over 50 precent done.

Any specific stuff to announce/show?

A lot of my mod leaks are in my Discord server, but sometime in January next month, I'll be able to showcase stuff being added to the mod on my YouTube channel, I will make a separate post for that, the mod will be released on March 25th 2025, and the mod soundtrack will release on March 18th 2025, that being said, there have been tracks that released early, more specifically the themes for Android and PC, I managed to add screen recording with audio to the development apk I have, which will make its way into 6.3 and future updates on the Android versions (PC players already have this benefit), but apart from that, yous can see the other stuff I've shown for the 6.3 Mod Update either in my Discord server or wait for the video to come out.
