tbh about 8/10

It's an amazing strategy game for it's price, but for a game, it's pretty broken. Partly because players don't fully report their bugs etc. It is great but base game lacks a lot of stuff. Only viable scenario is 1440 because all of the other scenarios are extremely boring. The real-time-strategy element is put in the game fairly awkwardly, It's simply a billion times better to use turns in it's scenario because almost every single decision you can do is based on those turns. There is almost nothing you can do inbetween them. Hearts of Iron IV for example has many trees, ranging from technology to production to focus tree.

8/10 is a pretty fair rating in my opinion considering this is an indie game and not a triple A company doing it.

Wasn't nearly as addicting as I thought it would be. Still a good game tho.

Maybe it's better. Before the release I thought AoC2 will destroy my social life. Luckily it didn't.

A lot of potential if Lukasz is willing to go out of his way and majorly change the game.

At the moment it's still a really good game, especially for how cheap it is, but there's a lot of problems with it, such as small countries being able to muster waaaay more troops than you do, even if they're 5x as small. Also managing any country bigger than 5 provinces is a pain because of all the buildings and whatnot.

Also, combat is kinda infuriating since if a country breaks through one province in a frontline, they can just siege the whole country and basically all you can do is go after them with the units at the frontline, resulting in these "troop waves", which happen even in AI vs AI battles.

I agree with most of what you said, apart from the last paragraph. In a real life war like WW2 or WW1, (idk about modern because guerilla tactics are commonly used in the years 1950 and above.)

If you have a massive gap in your line, the enemy can go behind and flank you, this was the case in the 1st Battle of Marne, where a gap was opened up in the German lines, forcing the Germans to retreat.

Another scenario is the encirclement at Dunkirk, as Wehrmacht troops punched through the undefended Ardennes which caused on a major defeat for the Allies.

If you lose a battle which like a gap is opened up, you can use the troops in the side of the gap to push through, and just fill the remaining with like 1000 or so troops, and the enemies who tried to break the line are now encircled.

And what I like to do to prevent that is to station troops behind your frontlines, like 300 or so troops, to prevent that, as I assume unless youre fighting a major power, would've taken massive casualties, and you reserve troops could just kill them and fix the lines.

    • Campaign: Small Scenarios
In this topic, share your ideas for Campaign scenarios.

These scenarios focus on a small part of the map, with the rest designated as wasteland.

For example, a scenario of the Reconquista in 1054, where gameplay takes place only on the Iberian Peninsula.

What are your ideas for small historical scenarios?

    • Events - Common events for every civilization in the game
      Hi,
in this topic, I am interested in your ideas for events that can happen for every Civilization in the game.
I'm also interested in Missions for every Civilization.

Here is some example, have more than 10k army, have more than 5000 gold, build 10 buildings, recruit an Advisor, increase tax efficiency 20 times, be largest  producer of some resource in the world, unlock 5 Civilization legacies etc.

    • Land units - Ideas AoH3
AoH3 will have different types of land units.

In this topic we will write ideas for new land units.

So the AoH 3 will have new battle system.

Representation of the battlefield in the game.

Land units will be grouped into 3 types. Each unit will have a different recruitment cost, attack, defense, movement speed and upkeep.

Groups determine the placement of units on the battlefield.

Each unit can be unlocked by researching technology and then upgraded.

Here is the current list of units with upgrades:

      First line:

Warrior -> Light Footmen -> Heavy Infantry -> Infantry -> Line Infantry -> Modern Infantry

Hoplites -> Spearmen -> Pikeman -> Elite Pikeman -> Musketeer -> Riflemen -> Mechanized Infantry -> Modern Mechanized Infantry

      First line side:

Horseman -> Elite Horseman -> Cavalry -> Tank -> Modern Tank

      Second line:

Archer -> Bowmen -> Crossbowman -> Elite Crossbowman

Canon -> Field Cannon -> Artillery -> Modern Artillery

Early Airplane -> Airplane -> Modern Airplane

This is a very early version, so maybe something should be changed?

Or maybe an idea for a new type of unit with upgrades? I'm waiting for your suggestions.
